Abdulaziz Al-Bahr, a 25-year-old Kuwaiti entrepreneur, has reached profitability with his UAE-founded startup, The Cloud, following a series of expansion moves across the Middle East and Europe. The venture, which operates as a B2B cloud kitchen platform, transitioned into a profit-generating entity in 2023, less than three years after its initial launch in Abu Dhabi. Capital Structure and Growth The Cloud secured $10 million in Series A funding in late 2022, led by Middle East Venture Partners (MEVP) and several regional angel investors. This followed an initial seed round of approximately $2 million. Unlike traditional cloud kitchens that build physical "dark stores," Al-Bahr’s model utilizes underused kitchen capacity within existing restaurants, allowing established outlets to host virtual brands and increase their revenue by up to 30% without additional rent costs. The company currently manages over 200 partner kitchens across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and several European markets.
