Greenfield Community College (GCC) has secured a $1.2 million grant to expand digital equity and broadband access within its regional footprint. The funding is allocated via the Massachusetts Broadband Institute (MBI) under the state’s Digital Equity Partnership Program. Infrastructure and Hardware Distribution The grant enables the college to deploy hardware and technical support to underserved populations. GCC will manage the distribution of laptops and improved internet connectivity solutions for students and community members who face systemic barriers to digital participation. The initiative includes the recruitment of "digital navigators" to assist residents with literacy and technical troubleshooting. This program follows a state-level effort in Massachusetts to address infrastructure gaps and ensure consistent access to remote learning and employment resources. Community Integration GCC will collaborate with local organizations to identify high-need areas and distribute resources. The college aims to provide sustainable access to essential online services, including telehealth and educational platforms, for low-income and rural households.
