The new 'GCC Grand Tours' visa aims to simplify travel for international fans attending Formula 1 and major sporting events across the Gulf.
GCC member states are finalizing the technical framework for the "GCC Grand Tours" visa, a unified travel permit designed to allow international visitors to travel across Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Oman on a single entry. The initiative specifically targets the region’s expanding sports tourism sector, enabling fans to attend multiple international events across different member states without applying for separate national visas. Integration of the Regional Sports Calendar The unified visa strategy aims to capitalize on a dense regional sports calendar that includes four Formula 1 Grands Prix—hosted in Manama, Jeddah, Lusail, and Abu Dhabi—alongside major golf tournaments such as the DP World Tour and LIV Golf. By 2030, the GCC aims to increase total tourist arrivals to 128.7 million, a substantial rise from the 39.8 million visitors recorded in 2022. The ease of movement provided by the permit allows for the creation of multi-city sports packages.
