DOHA — The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) has formally expressed its deep condolences and absolute institutional solidarity with the State of Qatar following a serious industrial accident at the Barzan gas facility located inside the massive Ras Laffan Industrial City. The incident, which occurred late Sunday evening, resulted in the tragic loss of 13 lives and caused injuries to 66 other workers who are currently undergoing comprehensive medical treatment in local facilities. In an official diplomatic statement, the Secretary-General of the GCC, His Excellency Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, conveyed the deepest sympathies of the entire Gulf bloc to His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of Qatar, as well as to the families of the victims and the broader Qatari populace.
