Fujairah Martial Arts Club signs global declaration to boost female participation

The Fujairah Martial Arts Club (FMAC) has officially signed the Brighton Plus Helsinki Declaration on Women and Sport, joining a global network of more than 700 organizations dedicated to gender equity. The signing, announced on Tuesday, 1 September, took place at the club’s headquarters in the presence of officials from the British Embassy and the International Working Group on Women and Sport (IWG). Strategic targets for female participation As part of the commitment, FMAC revealed that female athletes currently comprise 28% of its total membership. The club has established a strategic target to increase this figure to 35% by 2028. This expansion will be supported by data-driven programs focused on the ten principles of the Declaration, which prioritize fairness, leadership opportunities, and equal training resources. Nader Abu Shawish, Director of Fujairah Martial Arts Club, stated that the signing formalizes the club’s existing efforts to integrate women into leadership roles and elite competition.
