EU delays ETIAS launch as UAE travellers avoid new travel fees until 2027

UAE travellers planning trips to Europe will not face new digital entry requirements until at least 2027, after the European Union officially scrapped its planned 2026 launch date for the European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS) on Wednesday, 12 August. Current Entry Rules Remain Unchanged The EU announced that the ETIAS system is currently not in operation and that a specific start date will only be confirmed several months before it eventually goes live. This decision follows a series of delays for the system, which was originally intended to launch in 2021. For UAE citizens and visa-exempt residents, this means no pre-travel authorisation or fees are required for European holidays or business trips for the remainder of 2026.
