Etihad pilot with 10,000 flight hours to lead airline’s global crew instruction

Etihad Airways confirmed on Saturday, 29 August, that Captain Huda Al Musallami has qualified as the first Emirati woman training captain in the UAE. The promotion allows Al Musallami to lead the instruction and qualification of pilots across the airline’s international fleet. Al Musallami’s career in aviation spans 23 years, beginning in 2003. She joined the UAE national carrier in 2014, moving from First Officer to Captain in 2023. By 2026, she completed the requirements to become a Type Rating Instructor (TRI), a role that gives her authority over pilot certifications and safety training. Technical Qualifications and Experience Currently rated to fly the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, Al Musallami has recorded more than 10,000 flying hours during her career. Her flight history includes operating the Airbus A330, Airbus A340, and the Boeing 777. Beyond her technical flight hours, she holds a Bachelor’s degree in Aviation Management and a Master’s degree in Business Management and Information Systems. In her new capacity, Al Musallami is responsible for training a diverse cohort of pilots from various nationalities, ensuring they meet the airline's rigorous safety protocols and operational standards.
