Energy giant Inpex boosts UAE raptor conservation via new heritage partnership

Japan Oil Development Co., Ltd. (Inpex) launched a cultural exchange showcase at the Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition (ADIHEX 2026) on Tuesday, 1 September, to detail joint raptor conservation efforts between Japan and the UAE. The energy firm is using the event to bridge Japanese and Emirati heritage through falconry, a practice central to both nations. Masato Kamiya, Inpex Country Chair for Abu Dhabi and Managing Director, confirmed that the company is currently engaged in active collaborations with the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi (EAD) and the Emirates Falconers' Club to preserve avian biodiversity. Shared Heritage and Craftsmanship The Inpex pavilion at ADIHEX 2026 features a collection of traditional Japanese artifacts, including samurai katana swords and authentic armor. To highlight the technical parallels in falconry, the display includes specialized Japanese falconry gloves and traditional tea ceremonies, alongside live cultural performances designed to engage local visitors.
