Emirates SkyCargo UK exports rise 8% as demand for perishables grows

Emirates SkyCargo reported a significant increase in British export volumes on Monday, 3 August, as the carrier expands its logistics capacity between the United Kingdom and Dubai. The cargo division of the Dubai-based airline transported more than 45,000 tonnes of goods from the UK in the last fiscal year, representing an 8% increase compared to the previous 12-month period. High-Value Goods Lead Export Growth The cargo manifests indicate a diverse range of British exports, spanning perishable goods and heavy industrial components. High-value shipments included 620 tonnes of British strawberries and over 700 tonnes of salmon. Beyond food products, the airline moved substantial quantities of high-end consumer goods, including 5,300 tonnes of apparel and 1,800 tonnes of pharmaceuticals, which require temperature-controlled logistics via the carrier’s specialized "Life Sciences" infrastructure. Industrial demand also contributed to the volume increase. Emirates SkyCargo transported nearly 12,000 tonnes of spare parts, including critical components for aircraft and machinery. These shipments utilize the airline’s wide-body belly-hold capacity across its 126 weekly passenger flights from six UK gateways: London Heathrow, London Gatwick, London Stansted, Manchester, Birmingham, and Newcastle.
