Dubai Airports has officially announced that Dubai International (DXB) has experienced exceptional growth during the first half of 2026, welcoming a historic 44.9 million passengers. This record performance represents a significant 8% increase in traffic compared to the same period in 2025, solidifying DXB’s critical role as a global aviation crossroads and its unwavering support for the emirate's broader economic ambitions. The surge, which saw the airport manage an average of 7.5 million travelers monthly, was fueled by unprecedented regional and international demand, high-efficiency operations, and strategic capacity enhancements across DXB’s existing infrastructure. "This is a major milestone for DXB and the wider aviation sector in Dubai," said Paul Griffiths, CEO of Dubai Airports. "The record numbers are a powerful testament to Dubai’s enduring appeal as a vibrant city for business and leisure and a direct result of our seamless collaboration with base carriers Emirates and flydubai, and all our regulatory and commercial partners. Managing 44.9 million passengers with such operational ease and 99.1% baggage handling efficiency is the standard we always strive for."
