Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has awarded a contract for the construction of a 1,500-metre bridge linking Sheikh Zayed Road directly to Dubai Harbour. The project will reduce travel time between the two points from 12 minutes to three minutes, according to official data. The new bridge will feature two lanes in each direction and is designed to accommodate 6,000 vehicles per hour. The infrastructure project is a collaboration between the RTA and Shamal Holding, the master developer of the Dubai Harbour district. Infrastructure and Traffic Capacity The bridge will extend from the fifth interchange on Sheikh Zayed Road, specifically near the Al Khail Metro Station, providing a direct entry and exit point for Dubai Harbour. Currently, motorists must navigate internal roads within Dubai Marina to reach the sea-front destination. The new link aims to alleviate congestion on existing surface intersections during peak hours. The project includes the bridge structure and the improvement of surface intersections along the route.
