Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has officially resumed its tourist electric abra service at Al Mamzar Station. The move reinstates eco-friendly marine transport options for residents and visitors along the city’s northeastern coastline after a period of suspension. Sustainable Marine Transport The electric abra service at Al Mamzar utilizes battery-powered traditional vessels designed to eliminate carbon emissions and reduce noise pollution. Each abra has a capacity for 20 passengers, offering a 30-minute tour of the Al Mamzar lagoon and its surrounding coastal landmarks. The transition to electric propulsion in these heritage-style boats is part of a wider RTA strategy to modernize the marine fleet while maintaining Dubai’s maritime identity. The RTA’s marine transport network currently includes 55 stations across the emirate. The resumption at Al Mamzar specifically targets the leisure and tourism sector, providing a scenic alternative to land-based transport.
