In a major boost to active mobility and community living, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has officially opened a new 820-meter pedestrian and cycling bridge linking Al Mamzar and Al Khawaneej via Al Nahda. The project expands the emirate's continuous non-motorized transport corridor.
Dubai’s transformation into a world-leading bicycle-friendly city has taken another major step forward. The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has officially opened a new, custom-engineered 820-meter pedestrian and cycling bridge connecting the coastal district of Al Mamzar with the inland residential community of Al Khawaneej via Al Nahda. The new infrastructure bridge is designed to provide cyclists, runners, and pedestrians with a safe, dedicated crossway over busy urban roadways. By bridging previously disconnected sectors, the structure links seamlessly into established cycling networks in Al Khawaneej and Al Warqa, effectively extending continuous riding routes all the way toward the scenic desert tracks of Saih Al Salam. Engineered in accordance with international safety and urban design standards, the 820-meter bridge features wide non-motorized lanes, anti-slip surface coatings, high-efficiency ambient LED lighting, and clear directional signage. The architectural design ensures complete grade separation between active commuters and motor vehicle traffic, eliminating intersection friction points and ensuring maximum safety for fitness enthusiasts, daily commuters, and families. The completion of the Al Mamzar–Al Khawaneej bridge forms part of the RTA’s broader master plan to expand Dubai’s total cycling track network toward 1,000 kilometers over the coming years.
