Dubai RTA infrastructure projects cut 37 minutes off daily commute times

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has completed a series of major infrastructure projects as of Tuesday, 11 August, slashing travel times across the city’s most congested corridors. According to RTA data, five major projects recently opened have collectively removed approximately 37 minutes from daily journeys, with some routes seeing travel times drop by as much as 85 per cent. \n\n Hessa Street and Dubai Harbour upgrades \n The widening of Hessa Street, completed on 19 April, stands as the year’s most significant relief project. The 4.5-kilometre stretch between Sheikh Zayed Road and Al Khail Road saw its capacity double from 8,000 to 16,000 vehicles per hour. Commuters now spend four minutes on this segment, down from 15 minutes. Phase two is currently underway to extend these improvements toward Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road. \n In July, the RTA also finalised the Dubai Harbour bridge. The 1,500-metre structure connects Sheikh Zayed Road directly to Dubai Harbour Street, cutting the 12-minute transit time to just three minutes.
