Dubai RTA expands e-bike delivery service to 11 locations

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has expanded its electric bike delivery service to 11 authorised locations following a successful pilot phase. The initiative, announced on Sunday, 16 August, adds seven new districts to the network to facilitate short-distance logistics and reduce the presence of traditional delivery motorcycles in congested urban zones. \n\n New zones for e-bike operations \n The service is now operational in high-traffic residential and commercial hubs including Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard, Dubai Media City, Jumeirah Lakes Towers (JLT), and Dubai Marina. The expansion also covers Al Twar 1, Al Twar 2, and Al Qusais 1, providing riders with a legal framework to use e-bikes for last-mile fulfillment. \n\n The RTA stated that the move aims to improve connectivity between key areas while addressing the environmental impact of the delivery sector. The use of e-bikes for shorter trips is expected to lower carbon emissions and decrease noise pollution in densely populated neighborhoods. \n\n Infrastructure and rider support \n The timing of the rollout coincides with a broader infrastructure push for the delivery workforce. In tandem with the e-bike expansion, the RTA has established 23 dedicated rest areas for delivery riders located at various Dubai Metro and bus stations.
