DUBAI - In a major infrastructure milestone that will fundamentally enhance arterial traffic flow and strengthen connectivity across the emirate’s central road network, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has officially awarded two major construction contracts for the Al Meydan Street Development Project. Valued at an aggregate investment of AED 1.161 billion, the strategic civil undertaking is designed to accommodate the rapid pace of urban and demographic growth while dramatically improving transit fluidity between northern and southern districts. Given the expansive geographical footprint and technical complexity of the project, the RTA structured the execution into two concurrent contracts to accelerate delivery timelines and ensure that motorists begin experiencing localized traffic relief as early as possible. The comprehensive engineering blueprint encompasses the development of multiple high-volume intersections along Al Meydan Street, the construction of 3,700 metres of new flyover bridges, and the widening and paving of 17 kilometres of roadway. The master plan also integrates dedicated cycling tracks and specialized underpasses beneath Al Meydan Street to seamlessly link with Dubai's national cycling master plan.
