Dubai Municipality Launches ‘Dubai Historic Doors’ at DXB Airport to Welcome Global Travelers Through Authentic Emirati Heritage

DUBAI — In a creative celebration of national identity and traditional craftsmanship, Dubai Municipality has officially launched the ‘Dubai Historic Doors’ initiative at Dubai International Airport (DXB). Developed in close operational partnership with the General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai (GDRFA-Dubai) and Dubai Airports, the immersive cultural installation transforms international arrival walkways into a heritage passage, welcoming millions of global passengers through the traditional architectural symbols of the emirate. Running through early September at Arrivals Terminal 3, the experiential gateway introduces disembarking travelers to the visual, historical, and architectural memory of old Dubai from the instant they step off their flights. By meticulously recreating authentic wooden doors that once graced the homes, bustling souqs, and maritime courtyards of Dubai’s foundational neighborhoods—including Al Shindagha, the Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood, and Deira—the initiative bridges the city’s contemporary standing as an advanced global economic metropolis with its deep historical roots. Among the centerpiece installations exhibited in Terminal 3 is a faithful architectural reproduction of the grand entrance door of the historic Sheikh Saeed Al Maktoum House in Al Shindagha.
