Dubai’s infrastructure expansion has entered an ambitious operational phase as construction on the AED 20.5 billion Dubai Metro Blue Line advances across key subterranean and elevated corridors. Led by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), the landmark transit expansion represents one of the region’s most complex civil engineering endeavors, designed to link high-growth residential, commercial, and educational centers across eastern Dubai. With heavy excavation and primary tunneling works now underway following the deployment of specialized tunnel-boring machinery, project directors have confirmed that construction is progressing rapidly toward a targeted 30% completion milestone by the conclusion of 2026. Spanning a total length of 30 kilometers, the Blue Line route comprises 15.5 kilometers of underground tunnels and 14.5 kilometers of elevated viaducts. The network incorporates 14 strategically positioned stations, including three major interchange hubs: Creek Station connecting to the Green Line, Centrepoint Station connecting to the Red Line, and an iconic architectural terminal located at Dubai Creek Harbour. Designed in partnership with world-renowned architects, the Dubai Creek Harbour terminal is slated to stand 74 meters high, making it the world’s tallest metro station structure, with capacity engineered to serve more than 160,000 daily commuters.
