In a decisive move to support Dubai’s rapid population growth and accommodate record-breaking tourist arrivals, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), in direct partnership with developer Emaar, has launched a comprehensive infrastructure project to expand and modernize the Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall Metro Station.
The capacity of an urban center to maintain its position as a premier global lifestyle and commercial hub is directly dependent on the efficiency, scale, and sophistication of its transit infrastructure. Embracing this forward-looking urban philosophy, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has joined forces with leading developer Emaar Properties to initiate a monumental expansion of the Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall Metro Station. Representing the busiest and most strategically vital station on the entire Dubai Metro network, the massive infrastructure project is engineered to accommodate the emirate's continuous population surge and deliver a seamless, world-class travel experience for millions of global visitors. The technical and physical scope of the expansion is incredibly ambitious. Under the newly signed bilateral agreement, the physical footprint of the station will expand from its current 6,700 square meters to an impressive 8,500 square meters. This structural expansion will enable a massive 65 percent increase in passenger handling capacity.
