Dubai's KHDA mandates 10 core competencies, including financial and digital literacy, across all private schools to better prepare 360,000 students for the future workforce.
Dubai’s Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) has launched the "Skills for Life" framework, a new educational policy designed to integrate essential non-academic competencies across all private schools in the emirate. The initiative shifts the focus of the city’s education sector toward a more holistic model, preparing students for the practical demands of the modern workforce. Integration of 10 Core Competencies The framework identifies 10 critical skills categorized into three distinct pillars: personal, social, and digital. These include financial literacy, critical thinking, mental health awareness, environmental stewardship, and digital proficiency. All 220-plus private schools in Dubai, which serve more than 360,000 students, are now required to embed these competencies into their daily curricula and extracurricular activities. Aisha Miran, Director-General of the KHDA, confirmed that the framework provides a standardized roadmap for educators.
