Dubai International Airport handles 44.9 million passengers as global traffic surges

Dubai International (DXB) has retained its position as the world’s busiest airport for international passengers, reporting a sharp increase in traffic for the first half of 2026. The aviation hub handled 44.9 million passengers between January and June, representing an 8% increase compared to the same period in 2025. Surge in passenger volumes Data released on Saturday, 25 July, shows that India remains the top destination country for DXB, accounting for 6.1 million passengers. Saudi Arabia followed with 3.7 million, while the United Kingdom and Pakistan recorded 2.8 million and 2.1 million passengers respectively. Major cities contributing to this growth include London, Riyadh, and Mumbai, each surpassing the one-million-passenger mark during the six-month period. The airport’s flight movements also saw a year-on-year rise of 5.4%, totaling 216,000 take-offs and landings. This growth is attributed to the expansion of routes by home-base carriers Emirates and flydubai, alongside the entry of new international airlines into the Dubai market.
