Dubai Future Foundation and Oxa launch SHIFFT, an Autonomous Logistics Future Lab developing self-driving vehicles for ports and airports under D33 goals.
DUBAI — In a pioneering move to accelerate industrial mobility and transform the global movement of freight, the Dubai Future Foundation (DFF) has joined forces with global autonomous vehicle technology leader Oxa to launch the Autonomous Logistics Future Lab through a newly formed joint venture named ‘SHIFFT’. Announced under the umbrella of the Dubai Research, Development and Innovation (RDI) Ecosystem, the venture is engineered to accelerate the development, real-world testing, and commercial deployment of next-generation autonomous logistics systems across the United Arab Emirates and international markets. The establishment of SHIFFT represents a significant operational advancement in Dubai’s smart transport roadmap. While passenger robotaxis have captured widespread public attention, industrial logistics within enclosed operational environments—such as container terminals, air cargo transit yards, and intermodal freight hubs—represent one of the highest-yield frontiers for driverless technology. By combining self-driving software architectures with continuous worksite data collection, analytics, and operational intelligence, SHIFFT establishes an integrated platform capable of automating freight movement safely, predictably, and efficiently. The strategic mandate of the joint venture is closely aligned with the visionary Dubai Economic Agenda (D33), which aims to double the emirate’s foreign trade volume and position Dubai among the top three global economic…
