Dubai approves Dh2 billion Hessa Street upgrade to double traffic capacity

Dubai’s RTA has awarded a Dh2 billion contract to expand Hessa Street to four lanes and upgrade four major intersections.

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has awarded a Dh2 billion contract for the Hessa Street Improvement Project, a major infrastructure development designed to double the road's traffic capacity. The project will expand a 13.5km stretch of Hessa Street, increasing its volume to 16,000 vehicles per hour in both directions. The overhaul focuses on widening the corridor to four lanes in each direction and upgrading four major intersections. These include the junctions at Sheikh Zayed Road, First Al Khail Street, Al Asayel Street, and Al Khail Road. According to the RTA, the improvements aim to serve over 640,000 residents across Al Barsha, Jumeirah Village Circle, and Dubai Hills Estate. Infrastructure and Intersection Upgrades The Dh2 billion allocation covers the construction of new ramps and the expansion of existing bridges. At the Hessa Street-Sheikh Zayed Road intersection, a two-lane directional ramp will be built to facilitate smoother traffic flow toward Dubai South and Abu Dhabi.
