Oliver, who was in transit to the United Kingdom for his '90 Day Comedian' tour, found himself among thousands of passengers stranded when record-breaking rainfall paralyzed the city's transport infrastructure. Gridlock at Dubai International Airport The disruption followed the storm on April 16, which delivered 254mm of rain in 24 hours—the highest volume recorded in the UAE since data collection began in 1949. The resulting flooding led to the cancellation of more than 1,244 flights and the diversion of 41 others over a 72-hour period.
