Cinema Akil, Dubai’s independent cinema located in Alserkal Avenue, will host the third edition of Arab Cinema Week from November 22 to December 1, 2024. The program features a curated selection of films from 10 Arab nations, showcasing regional narratives that have recently appeared at major international film festivals. Opening Night and Regional Premieres The festival opens with the Egyptian film Seeking Haven for Mr. Rambo , directed by Khaled Mansour. The production makes its Dubai debut following its world premiere at the 81st Venice International Film Festival. The selection includes titles from Egypt, Palestine, Tunisia, Morocco, Iraq, Lebanon, Somalia, Sudan, Jordan, and Yemen, emphasizing independent productions from across the MENA region. Key Screenings and Program Details Featured films include Diaries from Lebanon by Myriam El Hajj, which examines the country’s political and social shifts, and The Village Next to Paradise by Somali filmmaker Mo Harawe.
