BP and ADNOC have reached an agreement to develop the Bab Gas Cap project, targeting increased domestic gas supply from one of the UAE’s largest onshore fields.
Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) and BP have finalized an agreement to develop the Bab Gas Cap project, a major onshore development located approximately 160 kilometres southwest of Abu Dhabi city. The deal expands the existing partnership between the two energy firms, specifically within the ADNOC Onshore concession. The Bab field is one of the largest onshore oil and gas assets in the UAE. Under the new terms, BP will collaborate with ADNOC to tap into the gas cap reserves, which sit above the oil-bearing reservoirs. This project is a component of Abu Dhabi’s broader strategy to increase domestic gas production capacity and meet growing industrial demand. Production and Infrastructure Targets The development of the Bab Gas Cap involves the installation of new processing facilities and gathering networks. These facilities are designed to handle high-pressure gas, which will be integrated into the UAE’s main gas grid.
