Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has launched the landmark Blue Line metro project, an AED 18 billion expansion of the city's public transport network. Approved by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the project is scheduled to be operational in 2029. The new line will add 30 kilometres of track and 14 new stations, providing a crucial link for an estimated one million residents in several previously unconnected residential and commercial hubs.
