App features and drone patrols lead new safety push at Dubai school zones

Dubai Police completed a specialized traffic safety training programme on Saturday, 29 August, involving more than 140 security guards from 35 schools across the emirate. The initiative aims to reduce congestion and improve student safety during peak morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up periods. The training, led by the General Department of Traffic, focused on equipping campus security personnel with the skills to manage vehicle flow and respond to immediate safety risks. Brigadier Juma Salem bin Suwaidan, Director of the General Department of Traffic, stated that the programme enables guards to handle minor traffic-related incidents at their workplaces and implement correct protocols before emergency services arrive. Reporting accidents via smart applications Conducted by First Warrant Officer Ahmed Mohammad Khalaf, the sessions integrated practical exercises with technical training. Participants were instructed on how to use the 'We are All Police' feature within the Dubai Police smart app to report minor accidents, bypassing the need for immediate patrol intervention for non-emergency fender benders. The curriculum also covered standard traffic signage, right-of-way rules, and methods to maintain continuous vehicle movement at school gates.
