Abu Dhabi to Build World’s Second Sphere Entertainment Venue

DCT Abu Dhabi and Sphere Entertainment Co. partner to bring a 20,000-capacity digital arena to the UAE capital.

The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) and Sphere Entertainment Co. have confirmed plans to develop the world’s second Sphere venue in the UAE capital. The project follows the 2023 opening of the original Sphere in Las Vegas, which cost approximately $2.3 billion to construct and features the world’s highest-resolution LED screen. Scale and Technical Specifications The Abu Dhabi venue is designed to mirror the 20,000-capacity scale of its Nevada counterpart. Under the terms of the partnership, DCT Abu Dhabi will pay Sphere Entertainment a franchise initiation fee for the right to build the venue, utilizing the company’s proprietary designs, technology, and intellectual property. Sphere Entertainment will provide construction oversight and technical expertise, while Abu Dhabi will fund the construction and operational costs. The facility will utilize advanced audiovisual technologies, including 16K interior LED screens, haptic seats, and beamforming audio systems.
