Abu Dhabi partners with Sphere Entertainment Co. to build the second immersive LED venue globally, following the Las Vegas landmark.

Abu Dhabi has advanced its plans for the construction of the world’s second Sphere venue, a multi-purpose entertainment landmark developed through a partnership between the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) and Sphere Entertainment Co. The project follows the 2023 opening of the original 20,000-capacity Sphere in Las Vegas. Strategic Partnership and Funding Under the terms of the agreement, DCT Abu Dhabi will fund the construction of the venue. Sphere Entertainment Co., a New York-listed firm, will receive an initiation fee for the project’s design and intellectual property. Once operational, the Abu Dhabi government will pay ongoing fees for content licensed by Sphere Entertainment, including proprietary technology and creative services. The Abu Dhabi venue is expected to match the scale of the Las Vegas site, which features a 160,000-square-foot internal LED screen and 1,600 permanent speakers. The exterior of the structure will be encased in a programmable LED "exosphere," designed to transform the capital's skyline with digital displays and advertisements.
