Abu Dhabi Records 31,075 Autonomous Vehicle Trips in H1 2024

Autonomous fleet on Yas and Saadiyat islands records over 44,000 passengers as smart mobility adoption grows.
Abu Dhabi’s Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) recorded 31,075 trips across its autonomous vehicle fleet during the first half of 2024. The figures, released by the Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT), indicate a rise in the use of smart mobility solutions across Yas Island and Saadiyat Island. Breakdown of Transport Data The autonomous fleet, operating under the "TXAI" and "Mini Robobus" brands, serviced two of the emirate’s primary tourism and residential hubs. Of the total 31,075 trips, the TXAI robo-taxi service accounted for 12,044 journeys. The remaining 19,031 trips were completed by the Mini Robobus service, which provides high-frequency transit along designated routes. Passenger numbers for the six-month period reached 44,459. The ITC reported that the services are integrated into the existing public transport network, allowing residents and visitors to book rides via the TXAI application. The system utilizes a fleet of electric and hybrid vehicles equipped with sensors and cameras to navigate urban environments without direct human intervention.
