Abu Dhabi presents water resilience framework at Stockholm World Water Week

Abu Dhabi showcased a new framework for water and energy resilience at World Water Week 2026 in Stockholm on Saturday, 29 August, as the emirate prepares to host the United Nations Water Conference later this year. The Abu Dhabi Department of Energy (DoE) presented a model that integrates policy, regulation, and infrastructure planning to ensure long-term resource security. Integrated Resilience Framework Led by Dr. Abdullah Humaid Al Jarwan, Chairman of the DoE, the UAE delegation met with international regulators and industry leaders to discuss system readiness. The DoE presented the Abu Dhabi Water and Energy Resilience Framework, a practical model designed to safeguard essential services while maintaining affordability and sustainability. The strategy focuses on source diversification and efficient resource use, drawing on five decades of water management data from the emirate. Dr. Al Jarwan addressed the "Shaping the Future Through Water" ministerial panel, stating that water security is defined by system resilience rather than mere abundance. He emphasized that the framework aims to translate high-level policy into implementable solutions that can withstand varying environmental and economic conditions.
