Abu Dhabi Mobility, the operational arm of the Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) operating under the Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT), has initiated a series of strategic multi-sector workshops to expand regulatory, digital, and civil infrastructure readiness for autonomous transport networks across the emirate. The strategic push follows official operational disclosures confirming that Abu Dhabi recorded 31,075 autonomous vehicle trips between January and June 2026, marking an acceleration in public adoption of driverless passenger transport. The half-year operational data highlights how autonomous transport has transitioned from isolated pilot demonstrations into a functioning component of the capital's public mobility network. Deployed extensively across high-density leisure and residential destinations such as Yas Island and Saadiyat Island, autonomous robotaxi services operated by commercial partners including TXAI and WeRide have now collectively covered over 600,000 kilometers and served more than 40,000 verified passengers.
