Abu Dhabi Launches GCC’s First Commercially Scaled Biotech Shared Lab

Abu Dhabi’s M42 and ADIO have launched the GCC's first commercial-scale shared biotech lab in Masdar City to accelerate life sciences research.

Abu Dhabi has officially opened the GCC’s first commercially scaled biotechnology shared laboratory, a facility designed to reduce the capital barriers for life sciences companies entering the regional market. Launched by M42 in partnership with the Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO), the laboratory is located in Masdar City and provides "plug-and-play" infrastructure for startups and established firms to conduct high-level research and development. The facility addresses a specific gap in the Middle Eastern biotech sector by offering ready-to-use lab space. This model allows companies to bypass the significant capital expenditure (CAPEX) typically required to construct and equip private biological research facilities. The lab is integrated with advanced sequencing technologies and bioinformatics tools, facilitating the rapid scaling of genomic and proteomic projects. Advanced Infrastructure and Research Support The shared laboratory provides access to specialized equipment, including mass spectrometers, liquid chromatography systems, and automated sample processors. These tools are essential for drug discovery, diagnostic development, and clinical trials. By centralizing these…
