Abu Dhabi Inaugurates State-of-the-Art Central Control Room to Regulate and Monitor Autonomous Vehicle Operations
Supervised by the Smart and Autonomous Systems Council, the facility leverages the AViTOMS tracking platform to oversee real-time driverless routes, emergency coordination, and permit issuance.

Abu Dhabi Mobility launches a centralized control room powered by AViTOMS to oversee and regulate autonomous vehicle traffic across the emirate in real time.
Abu Dhabi’s transition toward an integrated, intelligent transportation ecosystem reached a landmark milestone following the inauguration of a centralized control room dedicated to overseeing, regulating, and monitoring autonomous vehicle (AV) operations across the emirate. Developed by the Integrated Transport Centre (Abu Dhabi Mobility)—an affiliate of the Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT)—the high-tech facility was officially unveiled in the presence of Sheikh Hamdan bin Saeed bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan and His Excellency Mohamed Ali Al Shorafa, Chairman of DMT. Operating under the strategic governance of the Smart and Autonomous Systems Council (SASC), the control room establishes a unified regulatory backbone as driverless taxis, autonomous shuttles, and commercial delivery fleets expand across public roadways. As self-driving technology transitions from localized pilot programs to large-scale commercial deployment, the centralized facility ensures that operational growth is matched by rigorous safety protocols, real-time oversight, and transparent data integration. At the heart of the control room’s operational capability is the Autonomous Vehicle Integration and…
