Abu Dhabi hosts the Global Symposium for Regulators to finalize frameworks for AI governance and universal digital connectivity.

Global regulators and technology leaders convened in Abu Dhabi for the 24th Global Symposium for Regulators (GSR-24) to establish new frameworks for universal connectivity and digital infrastructure. Hosted by the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA) in partnership with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the event focused on the regulatory requirements for emerging technologies and sustainable digital development. Regulatory Frameworks for AI and Connectivity The symposium resulted in the adoption of the GSR-24 Best Practice Guidelines, a document designed to help governments navigate the rapid advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI). These guidelines emphasize the need for flexible, technology-neutral regulations that encourage innovation while protecting consumer data. Regulators from more than 70 countries discussed the implementation of "regulatory sandboxes" to test AI-driven solutions in real-time environments without compromising national security or public safety.
