Abu Dhabi Award Opens Nominations for International Date Palm Photography, Poetry Competitions

The gentle rustle of date palm fronds, an iconic sound woven into the fabric of Arabian heritage, echoes across the globe as nominations open for the 2027 Date Palm International Photography and Date Palm International Poetry competitions. Organised by the General Secretariat of the Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Agricultural Innovation, the competitions invite professional photographers and enthusiasts worldwide, alongside poets from across the Arab world, to submit their interpretations of the venerable date palm. Based in Abu Dhabi, the initiative operates under the patronage of Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence and Chairman of the Award’s Board of Trustees. The photography competition, now in its 18th session, and the poetry competition, in its 11th, aim to highlight the profound cultural, heritage, and humanitarian significance of the date palm tree.
